About Us : Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira Alumni Association
Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira,
the maiden step of Ramakrishna Mission in the field of higher education, has travelled for nearly seven decades with an ever-luminous academic record.
In fact, the very name and the idea of such an institution were envisioned by Swami Vivekananda who considered education as the panacea to all social evils.
Established in 1941 as an Intermediate College, Vidyamandira was upgraded to the Degree level in 1961 and Post Graduation courses were introduced in 2006.
It is now an autonomous college under the University of Calcutta. Amidst the constantly changing scenario in the field of higher education, Vidyamandira is
trying her level best to maintain the academic standard as well as the lofty mission of 'man-making and character-building'. Both the aims are found well-proved
when one sees the galaxy of illustrious alumni of our beloved Vidyamandira.
Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira Alumni Association, formed in 1986, is the formal body
of the alumni of this 'Temple of Learning'. It acts as a bridge between the past and the present of Vidyamandira. In 1987 it was registered under the
West Bengal Societies Registration Act of 1961. Now it functions from an office at the Vidyamandira premises and has more than four members who are ex-students
spread all over the world.
Not only at the level of
material sciences, but also in the realm of human relations, it is a fast
changing world where we breathe today. But there are certain evils which are
gradually eating into the vitals of our society. Here lies a great role to be
played by an alumnus of this institution. Our Association is making an
inadequate but sincere effort through all these activities to repay or even at
least acknowledge its debts to the alma mater and to the society at
large. We fervently hope that all our alumni, whether a formal member or not,
will surely prove the vitality and heritage wherein once he was chanced to have
a sip during his never-to-be-faded days in Vidyamandira.
